Vieux Pontarlier Absinthe
112 oz
Rittenhouse Straight Rye Whiskey
12 oz
Pierre Ferrand 1840 Cognac
1 tsp
demerara syrup
4 dash
Peychaud's Aromatic Cocktail Bitters
1 dash
Angostura aromatic bitters
lemon twist

Stir it Up

  1. Rinse rocks glass with absinthe and dump
  2. Stir remaining ingredients (except lemon twist) over ice
  3. Strain into rocks glass
  4. Squeeze lemon twist over drink and discard

Notes & Review

Very strong and quite bitter. Consider serving over a large ice cube to keep this one cold as you sip it and to dilute as you go as it's definitely on the boozy side. Could possibly use 1/4 oz of demerara syrup instead of tsp (1/6 oz). Would personally prefer an Old Fashioned or Manhattan or Negroni.
