Tequila Gumption
Double Rocks
Ingredients
- 1 oz
- reposado tequila
- 1 oz
- mezcal
- 1⁄4 oz
- maraschino liqueur
- 2 dash
- Angostura aromatic bitters
- 1 dash
- orange bitters
- 1
- orange twist as garnish
Stir it Up
- Stir all ingredients over ice
- Strain into double rocks glass over one large ice cube
- Garnish with orange twist

Created by Phil Ward when he was at Mayahuel in New York City, but it was created for The JakeWalk bar in Brooklyn, where Phil was a regular.
Notes & Review
This a riff from Phil Ward on his own Oaxaca Old-Fashioned, which in my opinion, is a better (and simpler) drink. This is a smokier version with the sweetness coming from the maraschino, which is a very subtle note in the background.
